Collection: Custom Burkinis

The burkini is the one product in modest wear where the fabric has to work wet. Weight, opacity and recovery all change in water, and a quality that behaves perfectly on a hanger can cling, sag or turn transparent after ten minutes in a pool. That single fact shapes everything else on this page. The wet-state construction detail for our sample piece is on the custom burkini product page.

What brands are choosing between

Four directions cover most burkini briefs. They differ in how much the garment has to do — coverage, ease of changing, and how it reads as a product on a store page.

Direction What it is good for What we handle
One-piece Simplest to sell, easiest to wear, strong on coverage Fit through shoulder and hip, how it moves when swimming
Two-piece Easier changing, and sizing that flexes between top and bottom How the two pieces overlap, so no gap opens in the water
Hooded Full coverage, and a clear point of difference on a store page Head opening fit, how the hood stays put without pulling
Swim tunic with separate leg Wear over a swim base, or as a cover on the way to the water Length, sleeve shape, and how much drag the fabric creates

What it takes to start

50 per style and color is the entry point, and sampling runs about seven days from an agreed brief. Swim sits on a different buying calendar from the rest of modest wear, so the practical constraint is usually time rather than quantity — the range has to be ready before the season opens, not during it.

Tell us where the garment will actually be worn. A chlorinated pool and open water put different demands on a quality, and so does the difference between occasional wear and a weekly swim. That answer decides what we source, and it is more useful than a fabric name. How fabric sourcing works explains what happens once the specification is set.

Two pieces also mean two chances of a shade mismatch. What happens to a color between orders is worth reading before you commit a two-piece range to a stockist who expects consistency.

Common questions

Which fabric should we use for a pool? It depends on how often it will be worn and how much chlorine it meets. Send the specification you have in mind and we will tell you what is available in that direction — chlorine exposure and wear frequency decide most muslim swimwear specifications, so a single "swim fabric" answer would be worse than useless.

One piece or separates? Separates are easier for customers to fit and cheaper to reorder, because only the piece that sold out needs replacing. One-pieces photograph better and are simpler to merchandise.

Can it double as a cover-up? A swim tunic can, and that is one reason brands build it as a separate piece rather than as part of the set. If both uses matter, say so before sampling — the length and the drape change.

Is swimwear made on the same line as activewear? Same workshop, different requirements. See modest activewear for the land-based counterpart.

Do you handle duties and shipping? We ship to your address; landed cost depends on your terms and your market. How landed cost is calculated covers the parts that are usually missed.

Tell us whether you are building a burkini or a wider modest swimwear range, where it will be worn and when you need it. If you are working toward a summer season, send the retail date — sampling is the step that eats the calendar.
