Why Your Timeline Decides Your Season
Ramadan and Eid are the biggest selling window of the year for modest fashion. Brands that plan early sell out; brands that start late watch competitors take the season. The difference is rarely design — it's timing.
From design brief to stocked shelves, a custom collection needs roughly 20 to 24 weeks. Here is the full production timeline, with the 2027 Ramadan season (expected to begin around 8 February 2027) as a working example. Islamic dates are confirmed by moon sighting, so allow 1–2 days of flexibility.

Target: stock on your shelves 3–4 weeks before Ramadan begins, so you catch both the pre-Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr shopping peaks.
Step 1: The Design Brief (20–24 weeks before Ramadan)
Everything downstream depends on how complete your brief is. Send your manufacturer garment types, silhouettes, measurements, fabric direction, and references. Step 2: Sampling and Approval (16–20 weeks before)
Plan for 1–3 sample rounds, each taking about a week plus shipping time. For a Ramadan collection, do not start sampling later than November. Step 3: Bulk Production (10–14 weeks before)
Production typically takes 4–8 weeks depending on style complexity and quantity. Your MOQ and lead time go hand in hand — a smaller starting quantity like 50 pieces per style means faster production and less capital tied up, which is why we recommend new brands test a capsule of 3–5 styles before a full collection.
Step 4: QC, Finishing, and Packaging
The final production week should include a thorough quality check and your branded packaging — hang tags, poly bags, and any inserts. Confirm your QC expectations before production starts, not after. See our quality control checklist for what to check at each stage.
Step 5: Shipping (4–6 weeks by sea)
Sea freight from China to Europe or North America takes 4–6 weeks; air freight 1–2 weeks at higher cost. For a seasonal collection, never rely on air freight as your plan A — use it only as a top-up for bestsellers.
Step 6: Buffer
Build in at least two weeks of buffer for customs, inland transport, and the unexpected. The brands that ship on time are the ones that planned for the delay that never happened.
